Mindfulness training is a component of sports psychology essentially teaching mental skills or brain training. Studies show that athletes who are trained in the practices of mindfulness are better able to regulate emotions, perform under pressure, reduce risk of injury, reduce distractions, and have better motor control. Additional benefits are reduced anxiety, depression, PTSD symptoms, improved immunity, and reduced inflammation in the body.
